Goals

The NOLA Mural Fest is a Krewe of Red Beans project in collaboration with local artists to plan, commission and execute murals in our neighborhood, around Saint Claude. Investment in the physical surroundings of higher-risk locations can create safer and healthier communities.

Improve Neighborhood

Better vibe can improve well-being and safety.

Enrich Kids

Teach art techniques with artmaking opportunities

Make Art

Beautify our neighborhood.

Support Artists

Pay emerging local artists for their craft.

Celebrate Acheivements

Bring neighbors together with a festival and live music!

The Project

This collaboration is aligned with our city’s efforts to uplift community voices and utilize our city’s culture to bring positive change to the community.  We can bring opportunities for small businesses, local artists, and culture bearers. Most importantly, with community support, the project will create a self-funded long-term impact on our city, helping create positive change and local investment through the arts. The artwork will be both meaningful and representative of the diversity of our city, boosting social cohesion and strengthening community relationships.

Founders

Bruna Pétalla

is an emerging, self-taught, Latina artist who is inspired both by her Brazilian roots and the chosen home that has allowed her creativity to blossom, New Orleans. Bruna has built on her extensive background in advertising strategy, turning her skill at getting people’s attention into an art form. Her eye-catching work is often found around New Orleans, where she started her art practice after she painted murals to send positive messages to the public during lockdown as part of the “Plywood Project NOLA”. Her temporary murals with catchy slogans and bright colors informed Bruna of her power as an artist to inspire joy in others.

Her work continues to be lively, celebrating the creative soul of New Orleans and beyond. Larger than life plants, softly abstract shapes and forms play together in Bruna’s pieces. She works to stir emotions in passersby, for them to remember they too are full of joy and gratitude for this beautiful world we live in.

Madison Roy

aims to awaken the childlike spirit within us all. With vibrant and bold designs, she celebrates the beauty of nature and community through colorful paintings and murals. With a passion for the natural world, music, and the physical world around us, Madison strives to create art that celebrates the diversity of life. Based in New Orleans, Louisiana since 2015, Madison draws inspiration from the city’s rich cultural heritage and lush plant life. She paints with acrylics and altex paints, using bold shapes and vivid colors to capture the essence of flowers, tropical plants, and native flora. She enjoys creating murals in urban settings to bridge the gap between nature and city-life, fostering a sense of connection and belonging. Through public art, Madison hopes to inspire a sense of playfulness, creativity, appreciation, and connection to the world around us.

Murals

inspire joy, creativity, and a sense of connection

Bruna and Madison create larger-than-life murals that feature bold shapes, vivid colors, and lively plants.
